The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for the implementation and management of appointment and reappointment activities for participating entities. The incumbent responds to requests for application for appointment/reappointment, receives completed applications, conducts source verification and provides completed documents to appropriate entities.

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or general education degree required. Associate’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years credentialing experience. A minimum of 2 years equivalent experience in a hospital, medical group, HMO or insurance company required.
• Licensures And Certifications
• Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist – CPCS preferred.
• Non Clinical\CPMSM – Certified Professional Medical Services Management preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of credentialing principals required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of credentialing requirements/regulations relating to acute and non-acute facilities is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office: (Word and Excel) required. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in word processing, data entry, database management and report writing.
• Must be able to spell, punctuate and file accurately.
• Demonstrated ability to professionally handle public contact, highly sensitive and confidential information and maintain effective work flow systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are necessary.
• Must be able to promote and maintain a cooperative attitude in working with medical staff applicants, allied health professionals, administrators and medical staff services personnel in all entities.
• Must have previously demonstrated an ability to set priorities and manage time and to work independently as well as part of a team.
