Job Description:
Sasol Mining operates six coal mines that supply feedstock for our Southern African integrated value chain. The coal supplied to Secunda Synfuels Operations (SSO) is mainly used as gasification feedstock and some is used to generate electricity. The coal supplied to Sasolburg Operations (SO) is used to generate electricity and steam. We also export coal from the Twistdraai Export Plant to international power generation customers via the Richards Bay Coal Terminal.
This exciting opportunity is to coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the Sasol Mining Integrated SHE management system (IMS) within Sasol Mining, to mine to meet relevant Safety, Health and Environmental requirements based on the Sasol business processes. This will be done within the Sasol IMS governance framework and Sasol Mining SHE: IMS Central Management requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implementation and the maintenance of the Integrated Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems within the department.
- Conduct regular system integrity checks and address deviations in collaboration with departments.
- Assist departments in preparing for internal and external audits and act as auditee where relevant especially in relating standards requirements to Sasol Mining processes.
- Administration of electronic IMS (logbooks, inspections, folder structures, authorizations, SDS’s, legal appointments, organizational changes) and establishing of department specific hard copy files.
- Coordination of, establishing, tracking, monitoring, review and reporting of Safety, Health, Quality and Environmental objectives, targets and management programs.
- Enable compliance to Safety, Health and Environmental requirements by line management through IMS utilization.
- Ensure rollout of changes and new developments to IMS.
- Establish department specific legal registers with compliance detail in collaboration with Subject Matter Expert.
- Attend relevant meetings and forums to ensure effective corporate governance.
- Provide training and coaching to IMS end-users
- Attending relevant department business meeting/s and reporting on status and compliance results.
- Ensure governance on IMS is correctly applied by end-users (management and other department – specific personnel with IMS admin duties)
- Coordinate and facilitate department internal management audits where required.
- Facilitate department management reviews as applicable.
- Establish departmental programs for the implementation of corrective / preventive actions from internal and external audits in collaboration with the business unit.
- Tracking and verification of implementation of corrective / preventive actions from audits and compiling objective evidence as and when required.
- Writing reports, develop and giving presentations
- Relevant reporting to departmental Management
Job Requirements:
- National Diploma in Safety/Quality/Environmental/Administrative Management (must)
- B Tech/ Degree in Safety/Quality/Environmental/Administrative Management (wish)
- 3 years systems maintenance experience. (ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 / ISO 9001) (must)
- Experience as auditee during relevant management standard audits. (Internal and External (DQS) (must)
- Experience of non-conformance and risk management processes (must)
- Administration experience in a safety environment will be advantageous (wish)
- Experience in determining of applicability of legal requirements to Sasol Mining and department -specific activities (wish)
- Knowledge of the SHEQ principles, business processes, One Sasol SHE Excellence approach and essential requirements.
- Sound communication, presentation, administration and report writing skills. Problem solving skills. Strong customer focus, Influencing and networking skills.
