Job Description:

To drive cost-effective optimisation and extraction of the ore body through the development and implementation of strategic projects related to new business and growth in mining.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify and assess level of baseline risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Manage SHEQ compliance within the Function through effective use of the Toolbox
• Develop, review and update Policies and Procedures in compliance with Samancor Chrome Framework and statutory requirements
• Lead the Mining Forum
• Achieve mining process quality
• Maintain and improve relationships with key stakeholders
• Optimise Ore Body in compliance the Mine Planning and Exploitation Strategy
• Analyse data and make recommendations on improving processes
• Review the overall mining strategy on an annual basis to ensure that it is aligned with the business plan
• Identify possible project proposals to be assessed
• Make recommendations on alternatives, taking into consideration financial and technical feasibility
• Manage the project procurement function
• Ensure that construction takes place according to Samancor Chrome standards
• Ensure that projects fit in with the Samancor Chrome strategic direction

Job Requirements:

• 8 years’ relevant operational experience at a senior level, preferably 3 years’ managerial experience
• Ferroalloy industry experience
• Mining Engineering Degree or National Diploma
• 8 Years’ relevant operational experience
• 3 Years’ managerial experience
