Job Description:
Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (BakerRisk®) provides services to industries and governments around the world to assess the consequences and risks associated with potentially catastrophic events including explosions, fires, and toxic material releases. Our research and development programs make us a technology leader with the most advanced methodologies and tools to predict potential consequences, analyze risk, and design protection, prevention, and mitigation systems for such catastrophic events.
Our Houston, TX office is seeking a technician to perform duties and assist with skilled and semi-skilled work in a variety of tasks and general construction, repair, and maintenance of testing equipment and assets at our test sites in Texas. Candidate must be able to work effectively under direction of senior engineers and be willing to travel for projects. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in interfacing with clients and other staff members. Including:
- Fire hydrant inspections
- Maintenance
- Fire water flow testing
- Performance of building leak tightness testing using tracer gas methodologies
Job Requirements:
- AAS Degree in process technology, engineering, instrumentation and controls, or equivalent
- technical degree, or 5 years’ experience in a related field
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (particularly with Excel)
- Be willing to learn key software programs to assist with data entry from field work
- Excellent customer service/people skills
- Ability to work and make decisions independently and to apply your knowledge and skills to
- new situations as needed
- Ability to contribute to multiple concurrent projects
- Familiarity and hands on experience with tools
- Willingness to travel/work outdoors
- Experience in Oil/Gas/Chemical Industries
- Familiarity with fire water flow testing
- Familiarity with troubleshooting instrumentation
- Experience with rotating equipment (i.e., pumps, compressors, etc.)
