ISASA Jobs – School Counselor

Job Description:

The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Team, School Management Teams, School Based Support Teams, teachers, students and parents to promote the emotional, academic and social well-being of all the students at Get Ahead.

Job Requirements:

• Requisite professional qualifications,
• HPCSA registration,
• Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures,
• Experience as a school counselor,
• Experience in working with social/emotional and behavioral challenges,
• Ability to interpret educational psychological assessments and academic assessments,
• Knowledge of learning disabilities and learning disorders,
• Experience in dealing with academic support and DBE referrals,
• Ability to work with parents and students in a counseling role,
• Able and willing to uphold the Christian ethos, mission and values of the school,
• Knowledge of how to interact appropriately with staff, parents, students and community,
• Evidence of clearance with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register, or ability to obtain such clearance, and
• Ability to communicate in isiXhosa and English.
