Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

Coordinate, evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of Speech Therapy and Audiology services. Provide high quality clinical Speech Therapy and Audiologist services that compiles with norms and standards for both in and out patients. Implement clinical protocols in line with evidence based practices and policies. Promotion and marketing of Speech therapy and Audiology services and development of new services. Represent the department at an institutional and provincial level. Manage the resources in the department, namely human, financial, physical and organizational. Supervision and monitoring the performance of Speech Therapy and Audiology staff and Implementing the Performance Management and Development Policy. Training and supervision of students. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Comply with all requirements of the hospital, department and service provision.

Job Requirements:

Grade 12 with Bachelor ‘s degree in Speech Therapy and Audiology. A minimum of three (3) years of experience post community service as a Speech Therapist and Audiologist. Additional experience will be advantageous. Registration certificate as an Independent practitioner with the HPCSA. Current registration with the HPCSA. Experience in human resource management and supervision. Experience with tertiary-level speech therapy and audiology services. (e.g. electrophysiology, ototoxicity monitoring, tracheostomy, laryngectomy and video fluoroscopy studies) will be added advantage. Experience in leading a Speech Therapy and Audiology department will be advantageous. Good communication skills. Knowledge of relevant policies, protocols and guidelines. Report writing and problem-solving skills. Computer literacy. Must be proactive, innovative and independent team leader.
