Job Description:

To assist the Risk Manager and support Store Operations in identifying and mitigating end to end risk in pharmacy, including minimizing losses through analysis, understanding of the business and the environment it operates in. This further includes implementing and tracking loss prevention strategies nationally and per store whilst measuring performance on an on-going basis and reacting on compliance and risk trends in a timely manner to enable the organisation to achieve its objectives.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Timely identification of potential risk exposure in pharmacy through root cause analysis, pharmacy risk reviews and keeping abreast of industry changes
  • Minimise losses through implementing and tracking loss prevention plans to drive continual improvement to financial targets
  • Ensure on-going improvement of shrinkage and wastage through implementing and tracking a National risk tracker and applying relevant strategies including an agreed shrinkage and wastage process
  • Ensure accuracy in perpetual and cyclical stock counts through implementing agreed processes supported by ongoing training and tracking strategies
  • Management of pharmacy (PPM) Control Self-Assessment processes and results to ensure ongoing improvement
  • Tracking of key pharmacy KPI’s to identify risk exposure and ensure improvement
  • Tracking pharmacy Audit results and key audit findings to ensure risk mitigation and ongoing improvement
  • To enable stakeholders to react timeously to risk matters through ongoing and accurate reporting and trend analysis
  • To assist in transferring specific pharmacy skills around risk and stock management to non-pharmacist operational leaders
  • Implementation and tracking of new initiatives aimed at, mitigating risk reducing losses and improving compliance
  • Investigations into instances of theft and fraud in pharmacies to determine the key control breaks and implement improved controls

  • Exposure to general retail processes and procedures
  • SOP and training material writing skills (desirable)
  • Training skills (desirable)
  • 3-5 years within a retail pharmacy environment
  • 3-5 years exposure to risk management (desirable)
  • Qualified Post Basic; Pharmacist Assistant; SAPC registration
  • Any other training or certification within risk management, financial management, loss management(desirable)
