Job Description:

The EIC Group leader is responsible for all Electrical, Instrumentation & Control technical support, maintenance support, and project implementation activities at the Hannibal site, managing activities in the fields of Power Distribution, Electrical Safety and Code interpretation, Instrument Engineering, DCS, SIS, Advanced Process Control, Alarm Management, Instrument System related Process Optimization, and Operator/DCS Interface Optimization.
The EIC Group Leader is a working lead position blending management and individual contributor activities. You will manage Hannibal activities directly and also consult for sites/plants within the TES organization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages Process Control Engineers, E&I Engineers, and Technicians.
  • Estimates jobs and prepares capital projects as requested through engineering support requests. Serves as Discipline Lead and/or Project Manager as needed.
  • Provides technical management of plant Power Distribution Systems, including low, medium, and high voltages.
  • Designs instrumentation and controls to support ongoing plant improvements.
  • Serves as site technical expert for DCS, SIS, Advanced Process Control, Alarm Management, Automation Security, Instrumentation, Power
  • Distribution, and Automation Process Optimization.
  • Supports Reliability programs.
  • Provides long term automation vision for site to improve site efficiency.
  • Participates in the BASF One Technical Community, including Centers of Expertise and Technical Community Projects.

Job Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering and at least 7 years of progressively responsible industrial experience regarding chemical/petrochemical plant instrumentation and electrical systems -OR- an Associate’s Degree in a technical area and at least 15 years of progressively responsible industrial experience regarding chemical plant instrumentation and electrical systems. Broad knowledge of DCS and SIS and demonstrated in-depth experience with at least one manufacturer, preferably DeltaV. Experience implementing new or replacement DCS/SIS projects as the Discipline Lead and/or Project Manager. Broad knowledge of the Process Control tools available for the chemical or petrochemical industry. Experience with Fieldbus, Profibus, and DeviceNet. Experience implementing EIC projects as Discipline Lead and/or Project Manager. Experience with power distribution in an industrial environment, including expertise with short circuit evaluation, power coordination, and arc flash studies.
