Job Description:

As a HR data analyst you will develop and provide HR Management Information & data analysis to customers both within and outside of Sainsbury’s. You will use a range of statistical analysis techniques to provide insight into key people information, presenting outputs in user friendly formats that can be understood by a range of stakeholders.

 

You’ll display a natural curiosity in data alongside a keen eye for detail. Using these skills you will identify areas for further investigation alongside regular reporting outputs that inform people decisions in the Sainsbury’s organisation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilise statistical analytics techniques (predominantly within Oracle HCM, SQL and Excel) to interrogate and analyse transactional, operational and behavioural data to identify key business challenges and opportunities
  • Support the running of the regular reporting schedule ensuring that required outputs are delivered on time and in full
  • Create easily understandable reports/reviews, and partner with key stakeholders to provide analysis and commentary on MI & reporting outputs
  • Partner with the BI & ADA teams to enhance the colleague data model to support production of all regular reports (both existing and future)
  • Collaborate with customers to understand their reporting / business requirements, and manage expectations on delivery output and timescales
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency and reconciliation of MI production to delivering accurate and high quality outputs
  • Where complete data sets do not exist suggest ways that required outputs can be extrapolated from available information highlighting assumptions made
  • Act as a trusted advisor on people reporting by coaching and advising the wider HR team on how to access and interpret colleague data
  • Build and design new reports based on agreed customer specifications presenting the data clearly in the most user friendly format
  • Support ad hoc analytics requests as required, identifying regular data requests that would benefit from a regular reporting output
  • Investigate root causes in data discrepancies – ensuring that these are highlighted to the data integrity analyst for further investigation
  • Champion Sainsbury’s data protection principles at all times – escalating any concerns on the use of data to your manager or the colleague data governance team

Job Requirements:

  • Proven experience of data analysis, ideally within a HR or similar environment (preferably with a statistical or mathematics based education)
  • Experience of engaging with and managing multiple stakeholders within large organisations
  • Experience of working with Oracle reporting tools, preferable OTBI and BI Publisher
  • Experience of manipulating large complex data sets
  • Strong understanding of data analysis/numerical reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products in particular Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and understanding of programming languages, specifically VBA and SQL
  • Deliver accurate and timely data and analysis that is easy to interpret and understand
  • Be willing to go the extra mile when analysing the data available by always questioning the trends and themes in reporting outputs
  • Turn complex data analysis into easy to understand stories and outputs that will inform people decision making
  • Collaborate with BI & ADA teams to exploit data analysis resources and tools that will add value to HR MI, reporting and analysis
  • Work closely with stakeholders advising on the art of the possible to define requirements for analysis ensuring these are agreed clearly, and then delivered
  • Propose and recommend the approach that should be taken to fulfil reporting & analytics projects and requests
  • A high level of team contribution – looking for opportunities to provide input and support across the team by building strong relationships with peers
  • When required present outputs of analysis work to stakeholders, explaining key trends and findings
