Job Description:

To provide assurance independent from any entity of the Sasol Energy Business by means of 2nd party audits by managing SHE risks effectively through assessing the 1st level of assurance process in an OME or function as well as the operating effectiveness of selected critical controls. Ensure that the requirements of standards to which OMEs are certified continue to be met while ensuring the requirements of other agreed upon systems, standards and processes are met, e.g. SHE & SD reporting and SHE incentive schemes and also includes Responsible Care and PSM in the case of petrochemical auditors. Lastly, responsible for all aspects of audit scheduling, audit planning, audit execution, reporting of results and audit follow up.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and agree on mutual needs and frequency of audit engagements with internal stakeholders and agree a schedule for the year for both 2nd and 3rd party audits
  • Coordinate schedule of internal and external audits, including continuous update of dates as per OME agreements, sign off on dates by the SHE team, and acceptance of urgent changes.
  • Align the risk profile with past internal and external reports, registered auditors, IMS, legal assessments, top Key Undesirable Events (KUEs), Sasol Group controls, top risks and associated controls, and other matters.
  • Prepare for, conduct, and report on audits in line with the One Sasol SHE Excellence approach, SHE risk-based approach, ISO 19011 standard, and the SHE auditing procedure.
  • Plan for and perform second party audits. Accept and implement advice given on programmes and systems to create competitive advantage.
  • Identify non-conformances, develop required correction actions, and regularly engage with relevant stakeholders to monitor implementation.
  • Analyse and interpret audit results and advise on implementation of needed controls of key undesirable events and Sasol Group requirements.
  • Develop and submit OME reports on assurance outcomes and trends and other on-demand reports.
  • Deliver high quality and cost effective solutions on time and within risk parameters to accelerate the audit cycle, increase auditor productivity, improve audit strategies, and reduce costs.
  • Comply with the standardised audit approach and required audit practices, as determined by international standards, Sasol requirements, seniors, trainers and mentors.
  • Support the development and conducting of satisfaction surveys, implement corrective actions based on results.
  • Apply evidence-based SHE practices, in alignment with set standards to ensure safe operations.
  • Implement Sasol’s risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework.
  • Build and maintain relationships with OME SHE VP, Senior Manager SHE, RIA Manager as relevant and OME RIA personnel to enable successful execution of the audit plan.
  • Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals.

Job Requirements:

  • University Bachelor’s Degree
