Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Behaviour Welfare Advisor to join the team at RSPCA Blackberry Farm Animal Centre, who are dedicated to finding unwanted, mistreated and abused animals loving permanent homes.

Job Responsibilities:
- Providing proactive and reactive advice and support on welfare, behaviour and training to RSPCA staff (including Inspectorate), volunteers, potential fosterers, adopters and owners of RSPCA animals
- Providing pre-adoption meetings and post-adoption telephone or face to face support as required for adopters
- Assessing behaviour and welfare of RSPCA dogs held at private boarding establishments (PBEs), prioritising those with the greatest needs for transfer to RSPCA animal centres
- Where required supporting educational programmes as part of the RSPCA’s Generation Kind project
- Assessing behaviour and welfare of dogs at intake into the RSPCA establishment and throughout their stay by use of agreed criteria
- Completing detailed and accurate records of each animal
- Producing, or supervising production of, a behaviour and welfare plan for every dog in the animal centre
- Cooperating with the RSPCA Regional Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist when a specialised behaviour intervention is required
- Providing proactive and reactive advice and support on welfare, behaviour and training to RSPCA staff (including Inspectorate), volunteers, potential fosterers, adopters and owners of RSPCA animals
Job Requirements:
- Experience of the care, husbandry and handling of dogs gained whilst working in the animal care/welfare industry (desirable)
- Practical experience of the application of theoretical behaviour modification and training principles
- Experience of working and communicating with the general public
- Proven ability to lead/supervise a team
