PathCare is a partnership of pathologists in private practice across South Africa that has been assisting doctors and healthcare professionals determine and confirm diagnoses since 1922. We are registered with the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa) and all our laboratories are SANAS accredited.

An opportunity exists for an Experienced Medical Technician/Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the team at our Somerset West branch. We are seeking an individual with a proven track record of displaying Clinical competence and who has a high level of ethics and integrity while consistently aligning with the PathCare values.

Job Requirements:

• National diploma/degree qualification/Medical Technician Certificate in Clinical Pathology
• Current registration with the HPCSA in Clinical Pathology
• Computer literate with Meditech knowledge is advantageous
• Knowledge/understanding of Pathcare systems, including Material Management system
• Must have at least a year of Clinical experience post HPCSA registration for the Entry Level Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist
• 3-5 years’ Clinical experience post HPCSA registration for the Experienced Medical Technician
• Experience with managing queries for internal/external clients
• Recent Diffing experience
• Advanced troubleshooting skills
• Extensive experience in technical procedure development and implementation
• Experience in maintaining QA Systems
• Experience on the following instruments is highly advantageous; Abbott Alinity, Sysmex XN range – FBC, Siemens CA – Coagulation
• Client-focused with strong interpersonal relations
• Excellent attention to detail
• Display initiative
• Advanced Problem-solving ability
• Effective verbal and electronic communication skills
• Ability to oversee and train junior staff and students
• Ability to work under pressure and display resilience and tenacity in challenging situations
• Result-orientated
• Emotional intelligence
• Ability to work alone in the laboratory
• Must be fluent in English with an understanding of Afrikaans
• Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends & public holidays
