Job Description:

General Manager Finance Operations is primarily responsible to oversee the Financial Consolidation, Technical Finance, and Financial Operations for Group Finco. The purpose of this role is to ensure best in class transactional finance services.

As part of the leadership team, the general manager is also responsible to contribute to Finance’s overall strategic goals, to achieve profitable growth, and to continuously improve the operation’s performance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead the creation of the divisional strategy in line with the overarching business goals
• Ensure effective implementation of the strategy by means of providing direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans and roadmaps
• Define the standards for performance across various activities and identify the parameters for measurement of performances
• Establish, monitor and align the direction, strategy and results of the Finance Operations vertical collectively and as individual work areas
• Lead and drive an integrated solution development and problem-solving philosophy within the function
• Monitor true-value metrics to measure the impact and benefit of the function to MTN. Drive continuous improvement across the function
• Oversee the execution of Accounts Payable, Travel & Expenses, Advances, Accounts receivable, Cash Management, General Ledger Accounting,
• Period End close activities and fixed asset register maintenance
• Ensure the provision of on time and accurate reports on financial reporting related metrics, KPIs and other agreed goals
• Review all accounting related publications (e.g. financial statements, investor reports), formal papers prepared for the board, auditors and / or other external parties on compliance with technical accounting matters
• Oversee the implementation of changes to the group accounting policies and reporting requirements
• Co-ordinate the need for support to operations for core finance areas
• Arrange secondments and provide solutions for staff shortages in operations
• Build and manage a high-performance team by providing leadership, role clarity, training and career development
• Recruit, develop and retain people with outstanding skills, qualifications, and potential

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Finance /Accounting or equivalent
• CA (SA) – Mandatory
• Post graduate degree in Finance and/or equivalent professional qualification (preferred); or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (advantageous)) or / ACMA (CIMA)
• MBA or Masters (advantageous)
• Minimum of 10-12 years post qualification experience plus at least 4 years in telecommunications/ Fintech / Mobile Financial Services experience
• Senior management track record of 5 years or more; with at least 3 years in relevant sector/ industry as per relevant role
• Experience spanning across various domains of Finance
• Experience in the service management of business operations
• Experience in leading change / transformation (Financial Accounting)
• Worked across diverse cultures and geographies
• Prior experience Financial Services preferred
