Job Responsibilities:

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, and Security at Emirates Flight Catering. The jobholder will be responsible for proactively developing QHSE strategies and ensuring their implementation to achieve excellence.

The incumbent will lead, direct, control and maintain an Integrated Management System in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 22000 in line with the company’s objectives, customer’s requirements and Industry best practice thereby ensuring that the company meets all regulatory requirements. The Individual will Lead and develop the Business Continuity team to ensure that the business implements a Business Continuity Management System that is robust and covers all crisis and emergency situations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of departmental heads and their immediate reports to ensure the implementation of the QHSE strategy across EKFC aimed at continuous improvement, operational efficiency and industry best practice standards to achieve world-class, zero incidents and zero food waste performance.
  • Collaborate with the business and external key stakeholders to ensure quality, food safety & safety is integrated at all levels. Provide expertise, advice and guidance to the leadership team and line managers on quality, occupational health and safety policies, food safety practices and procedures ensuring that these are aligned to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Maintain a leading role in coaching leadership teams and others on loss prevention, risk, and creating a safe working environment.
  • Lead and develop the Business Continuity team to ensure that the business implements a Business Continuity Management System that is robust and covers all crisis and emergency situations. This individual will ensure that all members of the strategic group, working group and the recovery team are trained and BCP’s are tested on a regular basis.
  • Focal point for the business between Emirates Group Security and Emirates Flight Catering to ensure compliance against aviation security controls and global regulations that our customers adhere to. To liaise with Emirates Flight Catering Learning and Development and Emirates Group Security to ensure staff is trained as per regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a framework of annual QHSE objectives, KPIs and ensure its achievement. Monitor and report QHSE based metrics that drive functional and business performance improvements. Accountable for the provision of monthly QHSE reports to EKFC leadership & the Board with mitigation plans and recommendations.
  • Manage QHSE budgets and ensure all necessary items are included in the scope of any operational changes and projects through involvement in Capex process and auditing safety checks for new projects. Works with sites to improve their safety & quality programs through assessment of existing programs, identifying areas of concern, and providing solutions.
  • Lead, direct, coach the QHSE teams to develop and embed Just Culture, a positive food safety culture, and a “we are safety” culture throughout the business.
  • Lead the automation and efficiency framework from an integrated management systems and processes point of view ensuring compliance with internationally recognised Codes of Practice / local regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ensure that all businesses have a QHSE training program as required by company policy and regulators and organize a comprehensive evaluation program for measuring and establishing effective HSE and quality requirements in the work environment.
  • Establish hazard identification, observation and mitigation programs that will allow the operations to implement and monitor a hazard register for all identified hazards and subsequent hazard control plans arising from injuries, accidents, near misses, audits, workplace inspections, safety observations and staff.
  • Represent the organization during customer audits, demonstrating due diligence, customer centric culture and commitment to meeting customer needs. Ensure corporate reporting by collating, analysing and provide performance input towards corporate metrics impacting the customer. Conduct internal audits/surveys to measure performance on environment, quality, Safety and Occupational Health and take appropriate actions to mitigate against risk to enhance the quality & safety culture. Direct and monitor awareness campaigns to heighten attention and focus on QHSE performance to achieve excellence.
  • Drive implementation of quality assurance and investigational tools for objective analysis of non-conformances; thereby identifying risk to business and initiating corrective/preventive action. Establish a comprehensive system for managing calibration and certification of weighing equipment.

Job Requirements:

  • 15 years of relevant experience in a range of functional areas that may include all or some including leading an HSE & Quality team in a management capacity (ideally in the aviation industry, heavy industry, manufacturing, or process environment) and in leading, executing, monitoring or supporting quality, health, safety functional activities. Relevant experience in accident and incident investigation focussing on exposure elimination preferred.
  • Crisis management and BCMS experience mandatory
  • Holder of a professional safety qualification from an International Safety Institution such as the Institute of Occupational Safety and
  • Health(IOSH), National Education Board of Safety and Health(NEBOSH),CSP, CRSP.
  • Experience in broad range across Safety Management, Occupational Health, Food Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Quality or related field.
  • Aviation experience both airside and landside
  • Aviation Security manager qualified or experience in inflight supplies
  • Certified Lead Auditor for QMS
  • Holder of International Risk Manager Certificate or International Quality Auditor Certificate.
